Each social Greek-letter organization is a part of a student-led governing council. Each governing council has an executive board for organizations that fall under the council. The governing councils at The University of Tampa include:
The College Panhellenic Association (CPA or Panhel) governs the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) organizations recognized at The University of Tampa. The NPC encompasses 26 (inter)national women’s sororities in which eight of those organizations are currently active on UT’s campus. The College Panhellenic Association strives to empower women through innovative programming and leadership opportunities. The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at The University of Tampa governs the North-American Interfraternity Council organizations on campus. The main purpose of IFC is to promote unity and collaboration amongst the fraternity community at UT. Currently, there are nine chapters and two colonies recognized by the UT IFC. The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) governs the two multicultural organizations in the fraternity and sorority life community at The University of Tampa. The MGC was established to provide guidance to member organizations. Membership to these organizations is inclusive and is open to all. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), also known as “The Divine Nine,” are the nine historically African-American Greek-letter organizations. At The University of Tampa, five fraternities and sororities are recognized by the NPHC. Although these chapters are African-American by tradition, they are all inclusive and welcoming to all students.
