Welcome to the Off-Campus Housing website, where you have already begun taking your first steps to off-campus living by organizing yourself, seeking tips and getting ready for your search. The best thing about the process is that it's yours – a personalized search process where you find housing options that best fit your needs and accommodations. We do not assign students to off-campus housing nor provide roommate matching services; it is your responsibility to find the best fit in both situations. However, it is our goal to provide information, resources and education for your successful transition.
Know Your Budget
Creating a budget is essential for a successful off-campus living experience. We have several tools for helping you determine what your monthly expenses would be and for finding the right price range for your housing search. Researching Off-Campus Housing Options
Living off-campus can be a wonderful time in your college career. Being empowered to know your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, roommate, neighbor and community member will help ensure a safe and healthy living experience. Be aware of your surroundings and take all safety precautions – it’s just about being smart.
Whether you’re considering an apartment, condominium or home to rent or buy, be sure you make yourself aware of the housing rental pricing market, rental rights, leasing laws and obligations. Don't wait until the last minute. With proper planning in advance, you will greatly improve your success rate in finding your ideal place of residence.
Check out our Smart UT Renter Questions document (Located in the Off-Campus Housing Resources OrgSync Group) for suggested questions to ask when meeting a landlord or leasing agent, and be aware of the distance of your housing choice from campus, located at 401 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33606.
Typically, to keep off-campus expenses lower than normal, students find a roommate to share the cost. We do not offer a direct roommate matching service for off-campus opportunities; however, we do provide online and direct interactive program options, which include our social media connections, the OrgSync Group and our Roommate Fairs. Our Facebook group to post for roommates is UTampa Roommate Requests (Off-Campus).
